Lubricity Additives
Lubricity additives are commonly used in soluble, neat cutting, metalworking oils and in many industrial lubricants. These specially selected friction reducing fatty materials and vegetable esters act as universal fatty compounding agents. Fatty compounding is also employed to increase metal wetting ability and film strength.
EPOIL Code L46
Epoil Code L46 is based on a balanced combination of specially selected friction-reducing fatty material and synthetic ester and acts as a universal fatty compounding agent.It is used in soluble, neat cutting and metalworking oils and in many lubricants where fatty compounding is employed to increase metal wetting ability and film strength.
Up to 10%, EPoil Code L46 in a base oil is suitable for general machining operations on mild steels, malleable iron, stainless iron, aluminum, and its alloys, copper alloys, magnesium, and other non-ferrous metals and alloys where operations are not severe, heavy cuts are not employed and non-tarnishing cutting oil is required.
Higher treatment levels in heavy oil such as Bright stock can be useful in overcoming short tool life and tap breakages in difficult hand tapping operations. Metalworking applications for EPoil Code L46 in mineral oil include aluminum wire drawing, roll forming light-gauge metals, light drawing, stamping, and cupping operations.
EPOIL HL
EPoil HL is a non-staining, non-gumming, and virtually non-carbon forming, high-lubricity fatty additive with high polar characteristics giving high wetting, spreading, and penetrating ability. The high lubricity coupled with clean burn-off properties makes it a superior treatment to conventional fatty oils used in drawing lubricants and other metal forming and rolling oils where non-staining on annealing is an important requirement.
EPoil HL may be used for compounding base oils for machining operations where fluids of high oiliness but without EP properties are desirable. Such fatted and super fatted oils of very low viscosity are suitable for high-speed machining operations on aluminum, copper, and their alloys, and honing and superfinishing operations.
The higher viscosity compounded oils are suitable for the more arduous operations on tougher aluminum and copper alloys and in general machining of mild steels. The low viscosity and high spreading ability of EPoil HL make it admirably suited to formulating penetrating and release oils and general-purpose compounded lubricants for threaded components, springs, locks, hinges, etc. EPoil HL is also employed as a compounding aid to die lubrication in wire drawing emulsions and for improved tool life with soluble cutting oils used with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
