Friction Modifiers

Friction Modifiers

Friction modifiers are added to lubricants in order to reduce friction and wear in machine components. They are particularly important in the boundary lubrication regime, where they can prevent solid surfaces from coming into direct contact, substantially reducing friction and wear. The molecules consist of two parts

the polar end and an oil-soluble end. The polar end attaches itself to the metal surface and the oil-soluble end will stand up when another metal surface comes in contact. This will create a film across the first metal surface softer than the second metal surface.

EPoil PN14

EPoil PN14 is a phosphorus-based friction modifier for use in a wide range of lubricants. It is an ashless additive package that can be used to replace ZDDP where metal-free formulations are required.

EPoil PN14 has excellent compatibility with most base oils including hydrocracked and poly-alpha-olefins. It can be used in a number of applications such as:

  • Gear oils
  • Hydraulic oils
  • Limited-slip differential oils

The inclusion of a sulfurized additive with high levels of active sulfur will increase the load-carrying abilities of the EPoil PN14, by the synergistic interaction of the sulfur and phosphorus additives.

EPoil PN14 has good low-temperature properties and can easily be blended at room temperature into a very wide range of base oils, it is also compatible with natural and synthetic esters.

EPoil PN192

Antiwear Hydraulic Additive Package

EPoil PN192 is a phosphorus-based friction modifier for use in a wide range of lubricants. It is an ashless additive package with enhanced stick-slip properties.

EPoil PN192 has excellent compatibility with most base oils including hydrocracked and poly-alpha-olefin. It can be used in a number of applications such as:

  • Gear oils
  • Hydraulic Oils
  • Cutting oils
  • Grinding oils

The inclusion of a sulfurized additive with high levels of active sulfur will increase the load-carrying abilities of the EPoil PN192, by synergistic interaction of the sulfur and phosphorus additives.
