Miscol Emulsifiers
A range of emulsifier packages typically used within the industrial lubricant sector. They have been developed to be blended with a carrier fluid, usually, mineral oil, to give emulsifiable finished products for use in a wide range of industrial lubrication and related applications.
The Miscol range of emulsifier packages combine surfactants with the other additives required for particular applications. Surfactants owe their surface active properties to the presence of both polar hydrophilic (water-loving) and non-polar lypophilic (oil-loving) groups in the molecule. This results in their migration and concentration at the oil-water interface and the stabilisation of droplets of one phase within the other.
The Miscol range combines surfactants of different types to optimise performance. Most of the product range employs both anionic surfactants such as soaps of fatty acids or sulphonates and non-ionic surfactants such as ethoxylated alcohols. The ratio of surfactant to oil in the formulation influences emulsion stability and droplet size. The lower ratios produce ‘coarse’ large droplet size emulsions. Higher ratios produce ‘finer’ emulsions, becoming transparent micro-emulsions at very fine particle sizes.
Miscol NK
Miscol NK is a complete additive package that can be added directly to distillates, such as kerosene, to give effective industrial emulsifiable solvent cleaners. Miscol NK contains no ethoxylated alkyl phenols.
Miscol NK is a pale amber coloured mobile liquid that is readily miscible with petroleum distillates at ambient temperature to give clear stable blends. These blends and their emulsions have little or no corrosive action on copper and remarkably low level of action on ferrous metals.
At a treatment rate of 3 to 7% in kerosene, Miscol NK produces a commercial water washable degreasant. Such blends will quickly penetrate dirty/oily deposits on the surface of machinery, vehicles, floors, etc., which can then be flushed with cold water.
Miscol NK contains no ethoxylated alkyl phenols and gives stable blends with hydrocarbon distillates. It can also be used to produce an environmentally friendly degreaser using biodegradable solvents such as fatty acid ester. It should be noted that after use, such degreasants are contaminated with non-biodegradable material.
Miscol Surface-Bright MX
